Sankri (Kedarkantha Base)

Sankri is a small Himalayan village in the Govind Pashu Vihar National Park area of Uttarakhand, serving as the base camp for several treks including the popular Kedarkantha winter trek. Surrounded by terraced fields, pine forests and views of peaks like Swargarohini and Bandarpoonch, the village retains a remote, rustic character with wooden Himachali-style homes. Its road connectivity from Dehradun combined with proximity to a beginner-friendly 12,500 ft summit trek has made Sankri one of the most popular winter trekking bases in North India.
